Although we recommend registering for a link and updates, we understand that many asylum seekers do not want to give personal information, even if it will not be shared. We will be allowing walk ins and anyone can follow our socials and join our live at 2:30 pm EST.

What to expect

Slatton & Hass Immigration Advocates invites you inside the asylum interview process, led by our founder, Victoria Slatton, Esq., a former DHS Asylum Officer who personally adjudicated more than one hundred affirmative asylum applications before founding this firm.

We'll open with a short introduction to what shapes an officer's assessment during an interview. Victoria will then conduct a live mock asylum interview using a composite, consented scenario rather than a real pending case, so nothing shared reflects any individual's actual claim. She'll follow with a breakdown of what officers are truly listening for, common misconceptions, and what strong testimony looks like.

The event will close with a live Q&A featuring our firm's partners, Victoria Slatton, Ashley Hass, and Jack Goodman, taking questions from both the room and the livestream audience.

Who this is for

  • Asylum seekers and their families who want to understand what the interview actually feels like

  • Immigration attorneys, legal advocates, and law students interested in an officer's-eye perspective

  • Community members, press, and anyone curious about the asylum process

Format

  • In-person seats are limited to Mount Pleasant Library's room capacity. RSVP secures your seat.

  • The event will also stream live to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. No ticket required to watch online. Links will be shared closer to the date.

  • A quiet, private space will be available on-site for anyone who would like a confidential moment during or after the event.
